The desire to form cross-curricular links is often expressed by teachers, and education professionals. This can be particularly difficult when dealing with pupils for whom English is a second language, it is often tricky for these pupils to access the higher level material required to fully engage with the subject. However, new research has shown that learning English as an alternative language through science has been shown to be effective. The Primary Science Teaching Trust has developed this new learning approach (PSTT, n.d.), the approach is called "Thinking Science".
The project aims to take advantage of the logic skills often associated with science, and provide a real life background for this knowledge of Language. It is our feeling, here at blen that taking advantage of cross-curricular methods is advantageous to the learning process.
